Eurostar Snap: the complete guide to half-price tickets (and how to actually get them)

What is Eurostar Snap?

Eurostar Snap is Eurostar’s last-minute fare: Standard class tickets at up to 50% off the public price, in exchange for one trade-off — you choose the date and a time slot (morning or afternoon), and Eurostar chooses the exact train, confirmed by email at least 48 hours before departure.

Also written Eurosnap, it is sold only on the official site snap.eurostar.com — not on eurostar.com and not through ticket retailers. The discount, Eurostar says, is measured against the public price of a Standard ticket seven days before departure.

Does Snap still exist? Yes. It launched in 2016 — over 100,000 people used it in its first year, says Eurostar, and a 2017 promotion sold 11,500 seats at £19 each way — vanished for a few years, then came back “year-round” on 17 October 2024. In 2026 it is very much alive: we check it every 10 minutes.

How does Eurostar Snap work?

Booking a Eurostar Snap ticket takes four steps: pick your route and date on snap.eurostar.com, choose a time slot (before or after 13:00 from London, 14:00 from other stations), pay, then wait for Eurostar’s email confirming the exact train at least 48 hours before departure.

   One to four adults per booking, on the routes listed below. Same-day returns are not possible.

   Before or after 13:00 from London, before or after 14:00 from other stations (the rule differs for German stations). You choose neither the train nor the seat.

   The price is shown before you pay. Once paid, the ticket cannot be changed or refunded.

   Eurostar sends your train times, with the ticket, at least 48 hours before departure.

So you choose the day and the half of the day; Eurostar chooses the train. Keep the whole slot free: an “afternoon” can mean 14:30 just as easily as 20:00.

How much are Eurostar Snap tickets?

Eurostar publishes no Snap price list: the fare appears when you book, with a discount of “up to 50%” measured against the public price of a Standard ticket seven days before departure. What you pay therefore depends on the route, the date and demand, just like a regular ticket.

To see your real saving: note the fare on snap.eurostar.com for your date, then read the cheapest Standard fare on eurostar.com for the same route and date. The gap is your saving — and it changes daily.

Two things that affect the bill: the fare is the same for everyone aged 16 and over (no child or youth discount), and promo codes cannot be used on Snap bookings. Eurostar e-vouchers, on the other hand, are accepted.

Eurostar Snap covers the main routes on the network: London to Paris, Brussels, Lille, Amsterdam and Rotterdam, plus Paris to Brussels, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Cologne, and Brussels to Amsterdam — in both directions. Updated automatically from Snap’s own data:

Eurostar Snap London to Paris

The busiest route, and the one where batches vanish fastest. London St Pancras to Paris Gare du Nord; your slot is before or after 13:00 leaving London, 14:00 on the way back.

Eurostar Snap London to Brussels

St Pancras to Brussels-Midi. Same slot rule as Paris: 13:00 from London, 14:00 from Brussels. Worth watching as a fallback when Paris shows sold out.

Eurostar Snap London to Lille

St Pancras to Lille Europe — the shortest hop across the Channel, and a handy base for the north of France when Paris dates are gone.

Eurostar Snap London to Amsterdam

St Pancras to Amsterdam Centraal, no change of train. Rotterdam is offered as a separate route, so check both if you are heading to the Netherlands.

When are Eurostar Snap tickets released — and why is it always sold out?

There is no official release time: Eurostar announces neither a day nor an hour for Snap tickets, and seats appear in small batches, at any moment, up to 10 days before departure. “Sold out” only means the current batch has gone — a date that was closed this morning can reopen tonight.

Weekends are not excluded: Saturdays and Sundays regularly show up among the open dates, with the same slots as weekdays. The closer the date and the higher the demand, though, the smaller and faster-selling the batches.

Snap vs Standard: which should you book?

Book Snap if your date is fixed, half a day of flexibility is fine and you want to pay as little as possible; book a Standard ticket if you need a precise train time, want to book months ahead or may need to change your plans. The table sums up what differs.

An often forgotten criterion: Standard opens ten months ahead, Snap ten days. Trip far off and time matters? A Standard bought early can cost less than a Snap you never catch.

Changes, refunds, luggage, children: the rules

A Eurostar Snap ticket is non-exchangeable, non-refundable, non-transferable and non-cancellable; it includes two pieces of luggage plus one piece of hand luggage, is for passengers aged 16 and over in groups of one to four adults, in Standard class only, with no seat selection, and allows neither bikes nor extra luggage.

• Changes and refunds: not possible, whatever the reason. If your train is delayed, Eurostar’s usual compensation conditions still apply.
• Managing the booking: “Manage your booking” is not available for Snap. For anything else, use the contact form or call +44 (0)3432 186 186, daily from 07:00 to 19:00 UK time.
• Luggage: two pieces of luggage and one piece of hand luggage per person, as in Standard; no extra luggage, no bikes.
• Children: Snap is for passengers aged 16 and over, with no child fare. An infant under 4 travels free on an adult’s lap, one infant per adult.
• Groups: one to four passengers per booking; seats together are not guaranteed and seat selection is not available.
• Day trips: same-day returns cannot be booked with Snap.
• Club Eurostar: you earn points, but no flexibility or upgrade benefits.
• Accessibility: no wheelchair spaces on Snap; a companion or assistance dog can be arranged by calling Eurostar at least 24 hours before. Full wording in the Snap conditions of carriage.

Is Eurostar Snap worth it?

Eurostar Snap is worth it for an adult traveller whose date is fixed, who is happy to learn the train time only 48 hours ahead and who books within the last ten days; it is not worth it for a tight connection, a trip with children or plans that might still change. And yes, it is legit — it is Eurostar’s own site.
